Do song lyrics matter? Jarvis Cocker will be debating the interrogation at this year's Brighton festival. Only Cocker spaniel himself has antecedently admitted that he is no expert in the art of writing lyrics. "One night ahead loss to the studio, I had to write the lyrics to 10 songs for the album Different Course of instruction," he has said. "I got truly sot in my sister's kitchen and I wrote club and passed out - and then finished the 10th on the way to the studio the next day. And that worked: it was Pulp's most successful and popular album."
